If you do Simulation work, setting up your model for the Simulation is critical. In this example we have a block with a mounting tab:
We want to figure out if that tab can withstand the necessary pressure that is going to be loaded onto it. We would typically apply a pressure load in the following manner:
The design of the part though calls for the load to only be applied on the tab portion of the part. At this point you would normally exit Simulation, and go create a split line. In Solidworks 2009, you can create that split line while in the Simulation tab:
Lets create our split line on the back face of this part:
The first step is to convert entities on the tab. and then close the sketch with a line. The result is:
At this point you click the create split button in the property manager and you will now have a separate face in which to apply your load:








i used cosmos tool for many engg. problem and every time we need to split geometry in order to apply boundry condision.
this is the best option you add in 2009. it really going to help for setting up problem with least effort.
