Last week I Posted about the section feature in the Solidworks Viewer program. Justin Burton pointed out that you can do the same in regular solidworks by unselescting the "Show Section Endcap" check box in the feature manager pane:
Unfortunately, once you click the checkmark, the endcap reappears, and you no longer have the look into the solid like you do in the viewer. When I originally posted about this, I guess my intention was to be able to have the section act like the viewer. So the functionality is similar, but I would still like to be able to have it work just like it does in the viewer. That way you can have a section view where you can see into the solid.

Hello again,
After posting the last comment I realised almost straight away that you cannot see inside after you select ok on the section :(
I think this could be really usefull tool... after a bit of playing I got quite a nice workaround...
Drag a plane out somewhere in your model. use the Cut with surface tool to section the part. now edit the appearence of the cut feature and make it transparent. (I tried delete face here but when you move the section new faces appear - using transparent makes this quite robust)
Using the instant 3D tools you can drag the section plane around and see into your model quite nicely.
Thanks,
Justin
